"With Body Surfing you don't take anything for granted! You ride the wave as far as you can, you don't kick out because the barrel stopped. You realize how much room there is out there, even with all the people." Kelly Slater

"We as a species are connected to the ocean. All living thing come from the ocean. Body Surfing is a chance to get back to your roots, It's the ability to feel the energy." Laird Hamilton

Founder and creative director

Slyde Handboards ® was established by the founder and creative director, Steve Watts. Steve grew up surfing the beaches of Durban's Snake Park Pier, breeding ground for some of the world's great surfers, including Shaun Thompson and Jordy Smith along with the odd bull shark. It was here on the shores of the South African coast that the initial seed for Slyde was born. After spending over eight years extensively traveling to many of the great surf destinations of the world, including the outer islands of Indonesia, both East and West coasts of Australia and New Zealand, Steve settled in Venice, Ca. It was here in Venice, where Slyde as a brand took take shape in 2010. It has taken sacrifice and hard work to get what we believe to be a great product and board to you. We hope and know you will enjoy every moment of using your new handboard and reap the rewards of all our hard work.
