Rob-machado

FISH OUT OF WATER

A snowboard manufacturing company out of Huntington Beach, Signal Snowboards, has made a surfboard/snowboard hybrid—something that could be ridden on both mountain and in the ocean. Always down to test out a new board, Rob Machado takes it out for a spin while the guys at Signal hit the slope.

Andy Davis is an internationally recognized California surfer/artist that started out as a body surfer and boogie boarder. Donald Brink and Slyde Handboards prototypes!

We recently teamed up with San Clemente local shaper Donald Brink to work on prototypes for our next models.  What we came up with will blow you away! We chose Donald not only for his obvious talent but also for the fact that he is willing to experiment with all sorts of different shapes. This is very apparent in his Full length boards where he is pushing the boaundaries of shaping and taking it to a new level. In my opinion it he is an anomoly in the shaping industry where only a handfull of guys are really willing to take that step to make somthing trully different. Donald is also above all a great surfer  and an exceptionally astute mind when it come to the way a board works in the water, I thought I knew my shit this guy put me to shame. These are some image from the shaping sessions and you can view all these and more in the Gallery section here  We think you may like what you see. We will also have the Videos from that session up tomorrow and will be sure to let you all know

Brrr! Chillin' with Inner-City Surfers

Surfers will do anything to catch a wave - even when they're in a city.

And, despite being 500 miles away from the coast, these hardy surf dudes in Germany are no different. Braving freezing cold water, they flock to Munich's only chance of riding a board in the hope of catching a freak wave that reaches just 3ft.

The unique standing wave is on the city's Eisbach River and has encouraged a lively surf scene – and a new niche industry along with it.  Some of the city's river riders are even starting to make a name for themselves outside of Germany with their urban brand of the water sport.

Extreme Body Surfers flock to Sandy Beach, Oahu

During the summer months, Sandy Beach located on the Southeast tip of Oahu is a popular destination. Facing the island of Molokai and the strong currents of the Molokai Channel, Sandy beach is dangerous when the surf is up.

Sandy-beach2
Of course that’s the reason that daring teens flock to the beach after school and during the weekends. The surf at Sandy’s breaks very near shore making it perfect for body surfing and boogie boarding. Shore break builds up quickly forming a tube that’s perfect for an adrenaline-boosting fast ride.

A wide and expansive beach, Sandy's is nice for swimming when the waves are very small, but most often there is a pounding shorebreak that creates very dangerous conditions for novices. Do not swim when the shorebreak looks dangerous because it is, and extreme injury may result.

PRODUCT LINE

Raw Elements is poised to introduce in the initial launch, our two cornerstone performance products,

ECO FORMULA 30+ & ECO STICK 30+. These two products are completed, manufactured and package

filled. With a five year plan projection, Raw Elements has already developed a complete line for seasonal

introduction. These additional products have been identified and formulated to include, but are not limited

to: Extreme Elements Sunscreen line, Raw Elements Lip Block, Organic lip balms, Nourishing Elements

After Sun Body Butter, After Sun Body Stick, Organic Body and Face Liquid Soap.

Utilizing  RAW ELEMENTS™

revolutionary ORGANIC ECO-SHIELD PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGY™ and leveraging the power behind the brand’s market diversity, the conscious consumer will finally have a complete option. This unique technology gives  RAW ELEMENTS™ the ability to offer a product line unlike anything else on the shelf. The result is a versatile, high performance sunscreen that exceeds the demands of the extreme, yet is gentle enough for infant care, all delivered in an eco-safe, reef safe, chemical free solution.

Protection & Performance

RAW ELEMENTS™ proprietary ORGANIC ECO-SHIELD PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGY™ is the

foundation for superior Physical, Chemical Free, UVA & UVB protection. This protection is supported by

the ability to perform and resist under the most demanding environmental conditions. True Balanced

Broad Spectrum (UVA & UVB) sun protection is what the consumer needs to be safe from cancer causing

rays. Where the FDA currently requires as little as only 5% UVA protection and has no regulation

standards there,  RAW ELEMENTS™ willingly lies ahead of the curve. Our formulas successfully block

97% of UVB Rays (spf 30+), over 95% of UVA Rays to 390 nanometers and over 92% at extreme UVA

400 nanometers - a feat virtually unheard of. Our formulas have achieved the maximum FDA standard

of “Very Water Resistant” maintaining efficacy after eighty minutes submersed under water. Going a step

further, we have demonstrated our formulas’ ability to perform after submersion of beyond 180 minutes.

This, is truly Performance Driven, Balanced Broad Spectrum Protection. Furthermore, ORGANIC ECOSHIELD

PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGY™ utilizes physical protection as opposed to commonly used

chemical UV absorbers which tend to break down quickly and release free radicals into the skin. Our

proprietary formulas are packed with all natural & certified organic ingredients, free of preservatives,

fragrances, parabens, hormone disrupters and titanium dioxide.

TESTIMONIALS

I couldn't be happier to use the Raw Elements sun screen. It’s by far the cleanest product I've

ever used. It’s not greasy in any way and fully waterproof, which makes it perfect for any water

sport. I'm stoked to be riding for a company that’s dedicated to full and chem free protection! It’s

one less thing to worry about while I'm on the water.” After using Raw Elements, I can't

imagine going back to any other brand!

-Marco Bava, Professional Kite Surfer

“No matter where I'm surfing in the world, I can count on raw elements to protect me from the

sun's harsh rays. When I leave the house I grab my board and my raw elements sunblock stick,

and I know I'm covered.”

Slyde on Refraction Magazine

While at Surf Expo last month, we were overwhelmed by the surf community's positive response to our boards. Especially our new "Woody" model! Steve sat down with Spencer Higgs for an interview about the sport, the boards, and design. Check it out!

"This Shit Rocked Surf Expo"

"If screw-less fins will revolutionize surfing, this will revolutionize how you look at waves. It will also increase your tube time. Have I got your attention, now? Thanks to progressivists such as Rob Machado, Dane Reynolds, and Dane Gudauskas, the ride anything movement has really taken off. Surfers are starting to branch out of their one-design shells and experiment a little—not just with new shapes, but with entirely new approaches to riding waves. Steve Watts moved to Venice Beach, California having surfed all over the world, at some of the most dangerous and challenging breaks out there. Which makes his adoption of handboarding—an evolved form of bodysurfing—so interesting, so peculiar, and so unorthodox. But maybe it’s not so inconceivable; his handboards encompass all the aspects of surfboards to produce an incredible ride, though you’re riding more in the wave than on it." -Spencer Higgs
