Noosa Festival of Surfing Delivers 8 Days of Stoke

Do you have spring break plans yet? If not, make sure you head to the 24th annual
Noosa Festival of Surfing, March 7th-14th in Queensland, Australia. If you do have
spring break plans, I would suggest changing them- there’s still time.

This 8-day festival has everything from handboardand SUP competitions, to family
challenges and even dog surfing! So don't forget your surfin’ pooch- they may shred
better than you do.

The event actually describes itself as “8 days of pure stoke” so you know it won’t
disappoint. Watch out Burning Man, you're not the only week-long party to get
excited about! Really though, this festival description is on point. Each day’s
schedule is jam packed with competition, activities and entertainment.

There are five point breaks that hold surfing competitions which accommodates all surfing
types- from long boards to handboards- making it exceptionally versatile.

Whether you’re a competitor or observer, they’ve got plenty to keep you busy. When
you're not out on the water or watching surfers from the comfort of your beach
towel, here are some other activities to indulge yourself in:

• Yoga for surfers’ workshop and classes
• Little Human costume party
• Livemusic every night
• Movie screenings

This Festival is particularly important to us at Slyde because this year The Noosa
Festival of Surfing is having their 2nd annual ‘Deus Womp Comp’, an epic
handboarding and bodysurfing competition that kicks off the event on March 7th.
‘Body Womping’ is another way of saying ‘body surfing’ for those of you confused by
the name. It’s the first and most pure form of surfing, yet too often gets undermined
and forgotten.

Noosa has not forgotten about all of us handboarders and body-wompers.
Shredders from around the world will be coming together for this event to show
their love for the sport; and their carry-on will be much lighter than those SUP or
longboard users!

For those of you who make it out this March, don't forget your Slyde Handboards
and GoPro’s- there’s going to be a lot of action!

Oh, did I mention this is the biggest surfing competition in the world with over 600 competitors from at least 14 different countries?
