Seaweed is in a lot of products we use every day, like toothpaste, makeup and even ice cream. What you may not know is that you can enjoy seaweed in a delicious salad! Crunchy, salty and savory all at once, seaweed is a healthy, textured, ocean-inspired take on salad that will fill you up. This seaweed salad recipe from Weelicious.com is a favorite of ours, and is definitely worth a try.
2 Cups of Seaweed
1 Tablespoon of Soy Sauce
1 Tablespoon of Rice Vinegar
1 Teaspoon of Sugar
1 Tablespoon of Sesame Oil
1 Tablespoon of Sake
1 Clove of Garlic (Minced)
Crushed Chili Peppers (Optional)
You can find seaweed for your salad in most Korean or Japanese grocery stores. The seaweed package will most likely say something along the lines of "salad brown seaweed stems".
Rinse the seaweed stems in cold water for about 15 minutes and then soak the seaweed in cold water for as long as you possibly can. This is a very important step in preparing your seaweed salad. The seaweed stems you use for your salad will most likely be packed in salt. If you don't rinse and soak the seaweed stems, you will end up with a very salty seaweed salad.
Mix together the rest of the ingredients to create the dressing for the seaweed salad. Toss the dressing with the seaweed stems and enjoy your refreshing seaweed salad!
