Slyde Handboards 2013 year in review

2013 has been a great year for Slyde Handboards, and we're stoked for what's still to come.  Here are a few highlights from this past year.

Riders

Chloe Coco TorresSlyde added a few ryders to the team, and they’ve been showing off their barrel-riding skills left and right.  Orange County native and waterman Zachariah Zeiger has been tearing up the Wedge recently, and showed everyone his stuff at the “Straight Outta Wompton” bodysurfing competition.  We’re stoked to continue to watch Zach charge onto the handplane scene.

Chloe “Coco” Torres was named Slyde’s junior team captain, and has been proving that handplaning isn’t just for grown-ups.  This past year, Coco won 1st place in the Junior Division at the Whomporama Bodysurf and Handplane Championships, and she continues to spread the stoke on the breaks of Carolina Beach, North Carolina.

Slyde's first Ryder in Southeast Asia joined the team too.  Daren Jenner is shredding and spreading the stoke in Phuket, Thailand.  With his quiver of Slyde handboards, Daren is absolutely tearing it up along the shores of Surin Beach where he lifeguards.

Products

Slyde Handboards 2013 Year in ReviewThis was a big year for Slyde gear, and we introduced a lot of new items into our lineup.  Now you can slap a kung-fu grip onto your handboard and reduce the slip.  We also released the new and improved Woody 2.0 and the Carbon Fiber G6, and followed with a whole new fleet of boards, including the Weave, the Bamboo and the Macassar.  Our top selling board this year was the Ukunye.  We couldn’t agree more with you guys.  It’s a beautiful board!

Press

Slyde Handboards LA Business JournalSlyde was featured in the LA Times and the Los Angeles Business Journal.  Not to mention, Slyde Team Ryder Willy Cole was featured in Eastern Surfing Magazine.  Slyde was also featured in a product review on The Weekend Warrior.  We’re amped to see that Slyde is really getting its name out there!

Store

This is probably the biggest news of the year.  Slyde opened its first store in the Gingerbread Shopping Court on the world-famous Venice Beach Boardwalk.  So far, business has been great.  We're stoked about how many people have stopped by to check out the Slyde Shop!  If you're in the area, make sure to stop by and say hello if you haven't!

Here's to 2014 and new opportunities to spread the stoke!
