Slyde Stoke Ambassador Profile: Alex Torres

Slyde Handboards Alex Torres Stoke Ambassador
You may recognize this Slyde Stoke Ambassador.  He has been featured on the Slyde blog a few times already, and is the father of Slyde Junior Team Captain Chloe "CoCo" Torres.  Welcome Alex Torres to the Slyde Stoke Ambassador Program!
Alex was  born and raised in Newport Beach, California, and moved to Santa Cruz, California in search of bigger waves.  While he spent his fair share of shredding in Hawaii, South America and Central America, he eventually settled in North Carolina and currently enjoys the hollow beach breaks there.  "The first time I saw a handplane was in 1973 and it belonged to my Dad," Alex said.  "It was made out of a pine fence board with a hole cut out of it."
Alex started the Intergalactic Bodysurfing Championship known as Whomporama, an annual event powered by solar generators.  The attendees perform a beach cleanup after the event, leaving the beaches cleaner than they found them.  "I love getting barreled and will use any tool necessary to get as pitted as possible," Alex said.
Thanks for helping spread the stoke, Alex, and welcome to the Slyde family!
