plastic bag legislation Washington DC

News from Washington

Here it is: A study that proves legislation can get things done!  It’s a great example of what can be done if we put our minds to it, and this news of change coming from Washington D.C., the nation's capital, makes it that much more impressive. This was as simple as putting a five cent fee on bags in Washington D.C.  What I really liked is the small print down the bottom: 1.9 million raised from the 5 cents per bag went to restoring a local watershed.  This is proof that big things can come from small change. On the back of Surfriders International Surfers Day, this is really great to hear. Is it too much to ask in the future that I don’t see any rubbish on the beach at a beach cleanup?  Stoked.
