My brother and I were doing underwater laps in the local pool when we had the idea to use the Woody handboard while doing it. It was more of an experiment than anything else! What we found out was that it has a far more productive way of underwater training. If you are an avid surfer or general waterman/woman (MANZIMAN) it stands to reason that you should be practicing holding your breath for longer periods of time. It is not a case of "if", but more when you get a wave upside the head and held down for that little bit longer than usual, that training could save your life.
The natural buoyancy of the epoxy handboard keeps you on an even keel underwater, meaning you are able to keep a straight line when you’re down there. This allows you to concentrate on your cardio and breath holding. Also, it’s just more fun. I don’t know about you, but I like to do exercises I enjoy. It gets me up and active and makes sure I don’t choose the couch as an alternative. Using the board out in front of you allows you to fly through the water like a bullet, or an underwater superman.
