Surfing history as we know it shifted in Oct 2018.  As Australia unveiled it's first man-made wave park.

Smack in the middle of farmland of Central Queensland, Australia.

In advanced efforts to accelerate the development of surfing beyond the ocean,
5 Waves unleashed the final phase of construction for a full scale 7+ plus surf-able wave. 

Described as plunger-like technology, Surf Lakes has the potential to produce 2,400 waves per hour, at 5 different levels of intensity.

 All frothing aside, Joel "Parko" Parkinson 1st wave showcased less than inviting perspective especially coming from a pro-surfer. "That wave was HECTIC. I was absolutely pressed, my heart is pounding. That wipeout was heavy."

As Olympic Surfing in 2020 quickly approaches all eyes on new wave technology.
