Whomp Off Australia team bodysurfing event has been going strong since 2016 along the coastline of Cronulla Beach in Sydney Australia.

A team based bodysurfing event, where contestants are able to choose to freestyle bodysurf or handboard.  The teams of bodysurfers are grouped into their locations around Australia and beyond.

Each teams scores from each of the 4 events (tag team, tricks, individuals, Dafins flipper sprint relay)  will be accumulated and averaged out so that an overall team score out of 10 is achieved. The team with the highest overall average will be crowned the 2018 WHOMP OFF AUSTRALIA CHAMPIONS.

It was the new Sutherland Shire bodysurfing club Bate Bay Body Bashers who were crowned 2017 Whomp Off Australian champions after their debut tournament."There's a lot of the hype is around the reigning champions going back to back in the event, so we’ll have to see how that pans out." Daniel Carr

This year DaFin Hawaii stirs up the competition,  joining the Whomp Off with talented bodysurfers like Mark Cunningham and Keali'i Punley putting the pressure on.  "They have the skills, the experience and the know how. But can they defeat the Australians in their own ocean????" Especially as Australia is still bearing spring sea temps of 60 degrees.

Daniel Carr aka Captain_Kookman and Mick Stringer will be representing Central Coast Bodysurfers riding Slyde Handboards, with Ben Oakley  leading the Goldie Sliders  of the Gold Coast.

" As always a lot depends what the swell does. Regardless, should be a fun day.
Great work by Rikki @whomp_off_australia aka @wawhandplanes in pulling together 100+ bodysurfers from across Oz and throw in a few unknowns from Hawaii. Additionally drumming up the support for sponsors for the event" Captain Kookman
