Rafky Sanchez epic tale of recovering from a tragic surf accident, first caught our attention on Instagram, and has since drawn the attention of The Inertia.

@rafkyman "As most of you know, I had a pretty bad accident practicing one of the sports I love most. It hasn’t been an easy road to recovery, and after 7 months of doctors saying i would never surf again, and lots of people, including myself at times, doubting whether or not i could do it, I’m finally back in the water.

I couldn’t have done this without the support of my family and friends making sure I never gave up, showering me with positivity, looking out for me, and pushing me to believe that what seems impossible is actually possible. At the moment, I have a much smaller board, but i also have a much bigger appreciation for life and it’s connections. and although i’m not 100%, it’s a step towards getting back to where i once was. this is only the beginning… #slydehandboards  #brllapared #luquillo#puertorico
