Inaugural UK Bodysurfing Championships 2017 Recap with UK Bodysurfing Association

Steve and Angela were honored to be able to make the trip across the pond for the inaugural UK Bodysurfing Championships 2017 (sponsored by Slyde Handboards) on Saturday September 16th.

Overall, it was a fantastic event, Andy did an incredible job putting it together. It was amazing to meet everyone face to face, like Slyde ambassador Ben Schofield.  Steve & Ang hope to return next year.

The Recap:

"Quite challenging swell conditions. Although we experienced nice peaky waves around the high tide, the period was only 6 seconds – exacerbated by the fairly stiff onshore wind. Despite this most contestants were able to get in some quite decent rides, and thankfully, no sightings of the recently reported Portuguese Man of War jellyfish on the day (seen recently on some of the North Cornwall beaches)

The 16 bodysurfers from the UK were competing against some very seasoned bodysurfers from France and Portugal, many of the UK bodysurfers having never entered a competition before!"
